MuseumWeek is an annual event that takes place on social media, with the goal of promoting museums and cultural institutions around the world. During MuseumWeek, museums and cultural institutions in general share content on their favorite social media platforms and organise special events in their venue. The event works like a festival and typically includes a series of themes that cultural institutions can use as inspiration for their activities around the world. MuseumWeek was first held in 2014 and has taken place every year since then.
Since 2014 MuseumWeek has grown to include over 60,000 participants from 100+ countries. It has become the official international week of museums, backed by UNESCO
A global community
MuseumWeek relies on an international community of professionals working in galleries, libraries, archives, museums, science and music centers, or any other cultural organization, who want to make a social impact through culture by organizing online and offline events. MuseumWeek also brings together a global community of digital artists and creators committed to social change.
Who's running MuseumWeek?
MuseumWeek is organised by Culture For Causes Network, an official French non-profit organisation that promotes artists, museums, libraries, galleries, archives, art fairs, foundations and all cultural institutions around the world by the organisation of events on social media and sometimes in the physical space.
